Social housing redevelopment and refurbishment

Pre-demolition security

Using our experience and expertise, we can help you prevent sites of future regeneration attracting crime and vandalism and thereby minimise feelings of vulnerability among remaining residents, as their neighbourhood is re-developed.

One of the solutions pioneered by Orbis is to phase the type of security fitted as projects move from decanting to demolition. This keeps both the property and surrounding communities secure and helps to minimise cost. For example, we change property security from low-profile polymer screens and fitted alarms to steel permascreen as the project develops and use our unique insurance-based risk management service to cover any financial risk to local authorities.

Innovation Highlight

We realised that the traditional demountable rental security screening fitted to pre-demolition sites was resulting in unacceptable levels of breach. In response, Orbis developed 'Permascreen' - a permanent, sacrificial system which has proved to be virtually impossible to remove from either the inside or outside. Over 3500 properties were secured in Salford with Permascreen with no reported break-ins. And because Permascreens can be recycled as scrap metal, you can off-set some of your initial capital costs at the demolition stage.
